Sally Stormon

Artist Statement

I am interested in exploring the way mind creates meaning by simplifying organic forms. My medium of choice is watercolor because it is immediate, fluid, and transparent. I like the way temperature and relative humidity affect the process. I must be aware of everchanging environmental conditions while engaging in a conversation with paint and paper. In the end, what I am really painting are emotions. My reaction to a place, or a quality of light or in the case of a commission, the patron’s reaction is crucial. That is what makes a painting.
